Abstract:
Different funding sources are available to startup founders, as they nurture their company from the early stages, through fast growth, and on to eventual success. The most common such source are investors who invest for equity, and the most common type of investors are angel investors and venture capitalists. In this lecture we will learn about the financial risk-reward considerations from the point of view of these investors, and how they influence the amount of money a startup can ask for, and the amount of equity in must give in return.

Speaker: Panos Markopoulos, Associate Professor of Management Information Systems Department of Business and Public Administration, University of Cyprus and C4E Director
Panos Markopoulos is Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the Department of Business and Public Administration of the University of Cyprus, and Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship. Dr. Markopoulos completed his PhD in the University of Pennsylvania studying the mechanism by which consumers receive information about products and services in electronic markets.His professional experience includes the Athens Stock Exchange, IBM Research, and the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co, where he consulted for the top management of leading corporations in Europe, USA and Canada. As an academic, he has taught in Cornell University and the Wharton Business School, and has published in top tier journals including Management Science.
