Megatrends - Five Global Shifts reshaping the world we live in

With Michalis Stavrides, Partner at Tax, Reporting and Strategy Services of PwC

Synopsis:

A decade ago, the PwC Network identified five Megatrends, which were characterised as profound trends, global in scope and long-term in effect, affecting everyone on the planet and shaping our world for many years to come. It is now clear that these Megatrends are transforming our world faster than anyone predicted. Largely this is due to feedback loops within individual Megatrends, or to the interaction between the trends that is turbocharging both the speed and pervasiveness of change.

Ten years ago, people generally thought of the Megatrends as something that could be addressed in a somewhat leisurely way. But since then, it’s become increasingly clear that that is no longer true (and probably never was). Given the disruptive nature of the Megatrends, governments, businesses and individuals need to reinvent what they do and how they do things. Getting these Megatrends under control is the task of this generation.

The purpose of this talk is to provide a brief introduction to these Megatrends, see how these have changed and affect the world we live in and what questions this will present to humanity.
